A Day with the Army National Guard: Honoring Team Members and Fostering Appreciation

Casey Olstad Sensor Operator Geospatial Technician with Miles Strain Aerial Services Manager

Our diverse and talented team gives us a lot to be proud of, but Aerial Services Manager Miles Strain had the honor of gaining a bit of insight into one of our team members’ roles in the Army National Guard earlier this summer. Casey Olstad, Sensor Operator/Geospatial Technician, is not only an integral part of our workforce but also a dedicated Specialist in the Army National Guard. She recently invited Miles to a “Lunch with the Boss” event hosted by the North Dakota Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) and the 141st Maneuver Enhancement Brigade of the North Dakota Army National Guard. The event took place at the Readiness Center in Fargo.

The day began with a comprehensive briefing about the unit’s mission and its significance, providing a deeper understanding of the essential role played by military employees in today’s world.

During the event, Miles had the pleasure of meeting and conversing with General Michael Haugen, an impressive and highly decorated figure. General Haugen’s remarkable stories from overseas engagements captivated everyone present and exemplified the selfless dedication of our military personnel.

One of the day’s highlights was an orientation flight aboard the UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter, providing a thrilling bird’s-eye view of the surrounding landscape. Miles also toured the facility and was introduced to advanced equipment integral to the Guard’s training regimen.

The day concluded with lunch alongside General Haugen, fostering connections and admiration for our military.

Casey and Miles agreed that this was an outstanding and informative day. We extend our heartfelt thanks to Casey and all our military employees for their service!
